오늘 지금 이순간, 누가 마음의 주인인가요 ?

 

누가복음 16장 15절에서 예수님께서는 바리새인들에게 이렇게 말씀하십니다.

“너희는 사람 앞에서 스스로 옳다 하는 자이나 너희 마음을 하나님께서 아시나니, 사람 중에 높임을 받는 그것은 하나님 앞에 미움을 받는 것이니라.”

 

사람의 눈에 옳게 보이려 하고, 높아지고자 하는 마음은 누구나 가지고 있습니다.

예의, 도덕, 정의라고 불리는 것들, 사람의 기준에서 ‘옳다’고 여겨지는 많은 것들을 우리는 세상 속에서 배우며 살아갑니다.

또한 남보다 더 낫고, 더 높아지고자 하는 소망 역시 많은 사람들의 마음에 있을 것입니다.

 

그런 세상의 배움과 인간적인 소망들로 가득 찰 수밖에 없는 내 마음이 어느 순간부터 하나님을 알게 되고, 세상과는 다른 하나님의 뜻을 조금씩 알아가게 된 것은 내게 참으로 큰 특권이라 생각합니다.

 

하나님께서 사람에게 옳게 보이거나 사람들 사이에서 높임을 받는 그 자체를 미워하시는 게 아니라고 생각됩니다.

그것이 나의 목표가 되고, 삶의 소망이 되며, 내가 노력하는 이유가 될때, 그 순간 내 마음의 주인은 하나님이 아니라 나 자신이 되고 마는 그것을 하나님께서는 슬퍼하시고 미워하실 것 같습니다.

 

무엇을 하겠다, 하지 않겠다고 생각하기에 앞서, 오늘 지금 이 순간 내 마음의 주인이 누구인지에 대해 다시 생각해봅니다.

세상의 욕망과 소원으로 가득한 나 자신인지, 아니면 나를 창조하신 하나님이신지 말입니다.

 

하나님께서 내 마음의 주인이 되신다면, 내 삶의 모든 일들 속에서 하나님을 경외하는 마음이 가장 먼저 자리할 것입니다.

그렇게 하나님께서 그 마음을 주관하실때, 그 마음의 쓰여짐과 생활이 하나님 보시기에 아름답게 될 수 있을 것입니다.

 

At This Very Moment, Who Is the Master of the Heart?

 

In Luke 16:15, Jesus says to the Pharisees,

“You are the ones who make yourselves look right in front of people, but God knows your hearts. What people think is highly respected is hated by God.”

 

Everyone has a desire to look good in the eyes of others and to be seen as important.

We learn many things from the world like manners, morals, and ideas of justice that are considered “right” by people’s standards.

Many of us also have hopes to be better or greater than others.

 

My heart, which is filled with all these teachings and human desires, started to know God one day. And slowly, I began to understand God’s will, which is very different from the ways of the world. I believe this is a very special privilege.

 

I believe God does not hate the fact that a person is seen as right or honored by others

But when that becomes my main goal, when it becomes the reason I live and work hard, then I think God is sad because in that moment, He is no longer the Master of my heart.

 

Before I think what I will or won’t do, I want to think. “Who is the master of my heart right now, Is it me who is filled with worldly desires and dreams or is it God, who created me?”

 

If God is my master who controls my heart, then in everything I do, I will first have a heart that honors Him.

And when God leads my heart, my thoughts and way of life will become beautiful in His eyes.
