가르침과 변화

누가복음 5:1-11.

 

하나님의 일이 내 마음속에서 어떻게 일어나고 있으며, 그것이 나에게 어떤 결과를 가져오고 있는지 생각하는 것이 참 좋았습니다.

예수님께서 시몬의 배에 오르셨습니다. 이것은 예수님께서 이 세상 많은 사람들 중에서 나를 선택하여 내 삶에 들어오신 순간을 떠올리게 합니다.

예수님께서는 가르치시기 전에 시몬에게 배를 물가에서 조금 띄우라고 말씀하셨습니다. 이는 세상의 소음과 인간적인 염려에서 마음을 닫고, 예수님께 마음을 열 때 주님께서 나에게 말씀하시는 순간과 비슷하다고 느껴집니다.

 

예수님께서 사람들을 가르치신 후, 시몬에게 “깊은 데로 가서 그물을 내려 고기를 잡으라”고 말씀하셨습니다. 그 당시 시몬은 밤새도록 고기를 잡으려 했지만 한 마리도 잡지 못한 상태였습니다. 그는 아마 이미 낙담했을 것입니다. 그런데도 시몬은 “말씀에 의지하여 내가 그물을 내리리이다”라고 대답했습니다. 이 대답은 정말 아름답습니다.

예수님의 가르침은 시몬에게 변화를 가져왔고, 그는 예수님의 말씀을 믿었습니다. 시몬은 예수님의 말씀에 순종하며 그물을 내렸고, 그것은 신뢰와 순종의 아름다운 모습이었습니다.

 

시몬이 예수님의 말씀을 따랐을 때, 그는 엄청난 양의 고기를 잡는 놀라운 경험을 했습니다. 시몬의 배와 그의 동료의 배는 고기로 가득 차서 가라앉을 정도였습니다.

만약 내가 예수님의 말씀과 가르침을 받아들인다면, 내 완고한 마음이 부드러워지고, 순종하려는 마음이 생길 것입니다. 그러면 곧 이 삶에서는 한 번도 경험하지 못했던 기쁨과 평안이 내 마음에 가득 찰 것입니다. 이러한 기쁨과 평안은 내 주변 사람들에게도 좋은 영향을 미칠 것입니다.

 

시몬은 자신이 잡은 엄청난 고기를 보고 예수님의 발 아래 엎드려 “나는 죄인입니다”라고 고백했습니다.

마찬가지로, 내가 예수님의 가르침에 감동받고 그분의 말씀이 내 마음속에 거할 때, 깊은 감사함을 느끼는 동시에 내가 얼마나 부족한 사람인지 알게 됩니다.

예수님께서는 시몬에게 “두려워하지 말라”고 말씀하셨습니다.

이 말씀은 크나큰 위로와 격려가 됩니다. 그 순간부터 시몬은 예수님을 따르며 자신의 세상적인 소유를 내려놓았습니다.

 

내가 나의 연약함을 느낄 때, 예수님께서는 나를 위로하시고 격려하시며, 나로 하여금 새로운 걸음을 내딛도록 도와주십니다. 그때 나를 방해하던 모든 문제들은 그 의미를 잃고, 나는 주저함 없이 영원한 보물에 집중하게 됩니다.

시몬의 삶에서 일어난 변화를 돌아보며, 이러한 변화와 성장이 일생에 한 번으로 끝나는 것이 아니라 매일매일 이루어져야 한다는 것을 깨닫습니다.

 

매일 나는 예수님을 내 안에 모시기 위해 내 마음을 열고, 예수님의 말씀을 듣기 위해 내 마음을 조용히 하며, 그분의 말씀이 내 안에 거하도록 나 자신을 낮추고, 나같이 부족한 사람을 향한 예수님의 사랑에 감사하며, 오늘도 예수님과 함께 한 걸음을 내딛기를 원합니다. 이러한 과정이 내 삶의 마지막 날까지 매일 지속되기를 기도합니다.

 

Teaching and Change

 

Luke 5:1-11.

 

I enjoyed reflecting on how the work of God is progressing in my heart and the kind of results it is bringing to me.

Jesus got into one of the boats belonging to Simon. This reminds me of the moment Jesus came into my life, choosing me from among so many people in this world.

Jesus asked Simon to push the boat out a little from the shore before He began teaching. This feels like the moment Jesus speaks to me when I quiet my heart from the noise of worldly matters and human concerns, and instead open it to Him.

 

After teaching the people, Jesus said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” At that time, Simon had been fishing all night without catching anything. He must have already been discouraged. Yet, Simon replied, “Because you say so, I will let down the nets.” This is such a beautiful answer.

Jesus’ teaching must have brought about a change in Simon, as he believed in His words. Simon obeyed Jesus and let down the nets, which was a beautiful picture of trust and submission.

 

When Simon followed Jesus’ word, he experienced an extraordinary catch of fish. Both Simon’s boat and his partner’s boat were so full of fish that they began to sink.

If I accept Jesus’ words and teaching, my stubborn heart will soften, making me willing to obey Him. Then, I will soon feel my heart fill with a joy and peace that I have never experienced before in this life. This joy and peace will also bring a positive influence to the others around me.

 

When Simon saw the overwhelming catch of fish, he fell at Jesus’ feet and said, “I am a sinful man.” Similarly, when I am touched by Jesus’ teaching and His words dwell in my heart, I feel deep gratitude, but I also become aware of how unworthy I am.

Jesus responded to Simon, “Don’t be afraid,” which is a great comfort and encouragement.

From that moment, Simon began to follow Jesus, letting go of his earthly belongings.

 

When I feel my own weaknesses, Jesus comforts, encourages, and helps me take a new step with Him for the rest of my life. The matters that once distracted me lose their meaning, and I am drawn to focus on eternal treasures without hesitation.

Reflecting on the transformation in Simon’s life, I realize that this process of change and growth needs to happen daily, not just once in a lifetime.

 

Each day, I must open my heart to let Jesus in, quiet my heart to hear Him speak, humble myself to let His words dwell in me, and be thankful for His love toward someone as unworthy as me.

I want to trust in Jesus and in God, who sent His only Son, Jesus, and be encouraged to take one step with Him again today.

I pray that this process continues daily, every day, until the end of my life.
