그래도, 계속 나아가길.

요한복음 8장 1절에서 11절.

사람들은 간음하다가 잡힌 여인을 예수님께 데려왔습니다.

그러나 예수님은 곧바로 대답하지 않으셨습니다. 대신 몸을 굽혀 땅에 무언가를 쓰기 시작하셨습니다. 예수님께서 얼마나 오래 그러고 계셨는지는 알 수 없지만, 말씀하시기 전에 잠시 기다리는 시간이 있었을 것입니다.

그러고 나서 예수님께서 말씀하셨습니다. “너희 중에 죄 없는 자가 먼저 돌을 던지라.”

그러자 사람들은 하나둘씩 떠나기 시작했습니다.

 

저는 종종 예수님께서 왜 즉시 대답하지 않으셨을까 궁금했습니다.

성경에서 예수님께 치유받았던 사람들과 이 사람들의 차이는, 이들은 자신의 죄를 용서받기 위해 온 것이 아니라, 여인의 죄를 정죄하는 마음으로 예수님께 나아왔다는 점인 것 같습니다. 우리가 하나님 앞에서 올바른 동기를 가지고 있지 않다면, 하나님께서 응답하지 않으실 수도 있습니다. 오히려 하나님은 우리가 기다리는 동안 우리 안의 잘못된 부분을 깨닫길 원하실지도 모릅니다.

 

예수님께서는 그들을 강하게 꾸짖지 않으셨습니다. 그저 몇 마디 말씀하셨을 뿐이지만, 그분의 메세지는 사람들의 마음을 변화시켰습니다. 그것은 살아 있고 참된 말씀이었습니다. 저는 그들 중 많은 이들이 예수님의 말씀을 들은 후, 남의 잘못을 판단하는 대신 자기 자신을 돌아보기 시작했을 것이라고 생각합니다.

 

감사하게도, 예수님과 하나님의 가르침은 언제나 사랑과 자비로 이루어져있습니다. 하나님의 말씀은 살아 있으며, 그것이 우리 마음속에 뿌리내릴 때, 자연스럽고 지속적인 변화를 가져옵니다.

 

때때로 저도 이 사람들처럼 내 마음이 아직 회개하지 않았을 때, 겸손하지 않을 때, 잘못된 동기와 불평, 판단, 오해로 가득한 채로 하나님을 찾을때가 있습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 저는 여전히 하나님을 찾고 그 앞에 나아가야 함을 압니다. 왜냐하면 하나님 앞에서는 변화될 기회를 얻을 수 있기 때문입니다. 하나님의 응답을 기다려야 할 수도 있습니다. 때로는 기대보다 더 오랜 시간이 걸릴 수도 있고, 내가 원하는 방식과 다르게 응답하실 수도 있습니다. 하지만 내가 계속 하나님을 찾는다면, 하나님은 내 마음이 하나님 앞에서 올바른 것이 무엇인지 깨닫게 하시고, 내 힘으로 해결할 수 없는 것들을 그분의 말씀의 능력으로 이겨낼 수 있도록 도와주실 것입니다.

 

Even So, Keep Going

 

John chapter 8 Verse 1 to 11.

People brought a woman caught in adultery to Jesus.

However, He did not respond to them right away. Instead, He bent down and began writing on the ground. I do not know how long He stayed like that, but there must have been a moment of waiting before He finally spoke.

Later, Jesus said, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” One by one, the people began to leave.

 

I have often wondered why Jesus did not answer them immediately. The difference between those who were healed by Jesus in the Bible and these people seems to be that they did not come to Jesus to seek forgiveness for their own sins, but approached Him with a heart to judge the woman's sin. When our motives are not right before God, we may not receive an answer from Him. Instead, He may allow us to wait patiently so that we can recognize what is wrong within us.

 

Jesus did not rebuke them harshly. He simply spoke a few words, yet His message changed them. It was a true and living word. I imagine that many of them, after hearing Jesus, began to examine themselves rather than focusing on the faults of others.

 

Thankfully, the teachings of Jesus and God are always rooted in love and mercy. His words are alive, and when they take root in our hearts, they bring about natural and lasting changes within us.

 

Sometimes, I also seek God like these people, When my heart is not yet repentant, when I am not humble, and when I seek Him filled with wrong motives, complaints, judgments, and misunderstandings.

Even so, I know that I still need to seek God and come before Him. because in His presence, I have the opportunity to be transformed. I may need to wait patiently for His answer, sometimes longer than I expect and sometimes in a way different from what I desire. But if I continue to seek Him, He will help me understand what it truly means to be right before Him. Through the power of His word, He will guide me in overcoming the things I cannot change on my own.
